THE WEEKS AFTER A LOSS

Grief is hard enough.

The logistics shouldn’t make it harder.

Settling an estate can mean hundreds of decisions at a time when your family already has enough to carry.

And when there isn’t one place to keep track of everything, even small decisions can become stressful.

One person ends up carrying it all.

The executor is suddenly responsible for a house full of belongings, unanswered questions, deadlines, and family expectations.

They’re trying to do the right thing for everyone — while grieving too.

It’s a lot for one person to carry.

The family group chat becomes the filing system.

Photos of heirlooms disappear into message threads.

“Who wanted the clock?”

“Did we decide what we’re doing with Mom’s dishes?”

“I thought we were keeping that.”

The same conversations happen again and again because there’s no shared record of what was decided.

Distance makes everything harder.

One sibling lives nearby. Another lives three hours away. Someone else is across the country.

Suddenly, the person closest to the house is doing most of the physical work while everyone else is trying to participate from afar.

Sorvela gives everyone the same view of the home, the belongings, and the decisions — wherever they are.

WHY I BUILT SORVELA

Because I’ve seen what happens when families have to figure this out alone.

I help families sort through and empty homes during some of the hardest weeks of their lives.

And after walking into home after home filled with decades of belongings, I’ve learned something:

  • It’s almost never just about the stuff.

  • It’s about the memories attached to it.

  • It’s about fairness.

  • It’s about making sure everyone feels heard.

And sometimes, it’s about trying to make hundreds of decisions while balancing careers, children, distance, grief, and everything else life hasn’t stopped asking of you.

When that responsibility isn’t shared evenly, resentment can build quickly. And disagreements over belongings can leave marks long after the house itself has been emptied.

I kept thinking there had to be a better way.

A way for everyone to see the same information.

A way for family members near and far to participate.

A way to remember why something mattered — not just who ended up with it.

And a way for the person carrying most of the responsibility to feel a little less alone.

That’s why I built Sorvela.

One shared place to catalog the home, involve the family, preserve the stories, and make the decisions together.

1.

Catalog the home

Walk through the home room by room and photograph belongings as you go.

Furniture. Documents. Keepsakes. Collections. Everyday items.

Sorvela organizes everything into one shared inventory, so you know what’s there before deciding what happens next.

One home. One shared space. Three simple steps.

HOW SORVELA WORKS

2.

Bring the family in

Invite siblings, heirs, and family members wherever they live.

Everyone can view the same inventory, add notes and stories, and indicate which belongings matter to them.

No more trying to piece together decisions from texts, emails, and phone calls.

3.

Decide together

Keep it. Share it. Sell it. Donate it. Let it go.

Sorvela keeps a clear record of the decisions your family makes so everyone can see what’s happening and what’s already been decided.

Less confusion. Fewer repeated conversations. More confidence that everyone was heard.

You already have enough questions.

Here are a few we can answer.
